Caribbean Sports – Caribbean Medal Count Surpasses 40 At Commonwealth Games

 News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Sat. April 14, 2018: With just one more day to go before the conclusion of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, the Caribbean region’s combined medal haul has reached a whopping 41 as of today.

That includes 13 gold medals from the region’s stalwart athletes. Jamaica is holding a dominant lead for the region, with 26 medals in total, including 7 gold medals. Jamaica’s women 4×400-m relay team took the 7th gold Sat. for their homeland.

Trinidad and Tobago has three medals to date, including 2 golds and one silver, while Bermuda, the British Virgin IslandThe BahamasGrenada, Guyana, St. Lucia have one gold medal each.

Guyanese American and Chicago native, Troy Doris, running for his parents’ homeland, grabbed gold for Guyana Sat. in the men’s triple jump while Levern Spencer of Castries, St. Lucia won gold for her homeland in the women’s triple jump.

The Bahamas also has 3 silver medals, bringing its total to 4. Dominica rounds out the medal count with two – one bronze and one silver. Yordanys Duranona Garcia added the silver for Dominica on Sat. in the men’s triple jump.
