News Americas, MEXICO CITY, Mexico, Fri. May 4, 2018: The U.S. Customs & Border Protection on Wednesday allowed another forty-nine Central American migrants from the ‘Migrant to step onto American territory to request asylum, raising the total number of those accepted for processing to 74.

The group of migrants from Central America, who traveled by caravan through Mexico to the U.S. border, are pleading their cases to the United States, but most of them are still stranded at the border.

The group of some 150 people say they have fled violence in their home countries. They arrived at the border area on Sunday and set up camps in Tijuana facing San Diego, California, across the border fence.

After a journey of more than 350 kilometers over the past month, the migrants, mainly from Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala, have to keep waiting outside the facility.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection say have reached capacity at this time, and they will take additional individuals into the port for processing when sufficient space and resources become available.

Many people have brought food, water, clothes, quilts, tents and other daily necessities to the migrants. Among the donors, some were once asylum seekers.

“I’m Honduran. Now I live in San Diego, the United States. Today I brought some stuff to my compatriots. It’s not much, but it’s a little help,” said a donor.

“We brought many shoes, clothes for kids, milk and milk powder. These are all for kids,” said another donor. (SOURCE: CCTV)
